Samuel/Adoption Update

Wanted to post some more pictures that we received in another update on Samuel last week. I am loving all of these pictures!

Here is Samuel pictured with the foster mother and the other children she is caring for. The baby on her lap is the little infant we visited during our Ghana trip in January...he has really grown since then!

Our sweet Samuel.

And, how great is this to get a picture of him smiling! LOVE IT!
Samuel is in a different school now where he lives with his foster mother. As part of the foster care arrangement we have purchased clothing items (including a school uniform and boots/sandals), books, and a classroom chair, as well as a bed with sheets and a pillow in his foster home. :) Yay for a bed to sleep on!

Kofi has secured the birth certificate for Samuel which is what we had been waiting on to be able to file the I-600. But, upon finding out that Samuel’s father is deceased, we now also need to obtain the death certificate for Samuel’s father which is another requirement to be sent in with the I-600 form. Here is Kofi’s latest update to us:

Samuel’s passport is ready. A representative from the registrar of death will be sent to Mampong Hospital in the eastern region to retrieve the medical report of Samuel’s late father. After retrieving the medical report he will then continue to Mangoase Village to retrieve the burial permit where he was buried. Once these documents are available the director of registrar will reissue the death certificate. Unfortunately such documents are not computerized hence the long process.

Once Kofi has Samuel's father's death certificate (I am hoping it will only take a week or so), he will be shipping all the original documents to us via FedEx (which will probably take about 1 week in itself), and then we will finally be able to file the form! :)
